Clara Button and the Magical Hat Day
This is the most beautiful book! It is full of the most wonderful illustrations which are packed with detail, so there's something to pore over for hours. Many of the pictures are recognisable scenes from the Victoria and Albert Museum, which has published this book and is where much of the story takes place.
The story is charming too. A little girl called Clara loves dressing up, and she particularly likes making hats. She treasures a hat left to her by her grandma, but one day Clara's brother accidently tears it. To distract the children from this upset, Clara's mum takes them all out for a day out at the museum. Clara decides to take the damaged hat along in case she can find someone in the museum to repair it.
The book is a beautiful gift and something to treasure. Grandmas, mothers, aunts and friends will all love sharing this with girls aged seven and under. It will particularly appeal to anyone who delights in the museum entrance hall with its magnificent chandelier, or the William Morris room in the restaurant, as these are gloriously represented in the story.
