The author, lecturer and environmentalist Jules Pretty (he teaches at Colchester University) has published a book called 'This Luminous Coast' with local company Full Circle Editions.

It is an account of one year when he covered the coast of East Anglia (400 miles on foot, 100 miles in a variety of boats), to find out more about the people, the scenery, and the future of what is considered a fast disappearing coastline. The book is beautifully presented, with illustrations and an engaging narrative, and Jules is also a compelling speaker. He was on BBC Radio Suffolk recently and was fascinating to listen to.

He calls himself a positive environmentalist - he thinks that we can change things for the better if we act now. And he believes if we have hope for saving our world, then we are more likely to take action, to change our current destructive behaviour.

He will be speaking at Browsers Bookshop on Monday 11 April at 7.30pm. Tickets are free but space is limited, so if you are interested please pop into the shop and collect a ticket, or book by calling 01394 388890. It would be lovely to have a good turnout for him, and there will be plenty of time for questions! Please tell anyone you think might be interested, and encourage them to get their ticket soon so that we have a good idea of numbers early on!
